Inside This Post...

A few days ago, I shared something personal with my email list.
I don’t usually hit “send” on stories like this, but it resonated.
And I thought, why not share it here too?

Because here’s the truth: we don’t talk enough about what really goes on behind the scenes.

All we see are the perfectly polished social posts. The sales wins. The “look how easy this was” reels. And when you’re on the other side of the screen, building your business in real time, it’s easy to wonder: what the fudge is wrong with me?

The answer? Nothing. You’re just human. And business is messy sometimes.

So here’s the story I shared with my subscribers about slowing down, navigating a full season, and remembering that rest is part of the process too.

Life feels full right now

  • Client projects are flowing
  • My own offers and ideas are waiting patiently in the background
  • Helping my aging parents
  • My son is back in school, which means wrestling season is in full swing

And most tender of all, we’re grieving the loss of our sweet Lola, who was part of our family for 12 beautiful years.

Not all heavy. Not all bad. Just… a lot.

And maybe you’re feeling that too.

Whether it’s the Lion’s Gate energy, the 9/9/9 portal, or simply the rhythm of seasons shifting, things feel different right now. A little slower. A little more emotional. A little harder to push through.

The moment that stopped me

A few weeks ago, I was anxious because I hadn’t made a YouTube video. I told my husband, “I’m slacking. I feel guilty for not keeping up.”

He looked at me and said, “Who is sitting by the laptop waiting to read your emails, or on YouTube waiting for you to post? I know you love teaching and I know consistency is important, but so is your sanity.”

Oof. Perspective.

He wasn’t saying consistency doesn’t matter. He was reminding me that pressure isn’t the purpose. And that my audience isn’t counting down the minutes between posts. But they would notice if I burned out and lost the spark that makes my work worth following in the first place.

A mirror for solopreneurs

This hit me because I see the same thing in so many ecommerce solopreneurs, and clients.

You’re creating content everywhere, on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, emails, without stopping to check the numbers.

What if TikTok is draining your energy but Instagram is actually bringing in the website visits?
What if you’re posting five times a week when one solid, intentional post would do the heavy lifting?

More isn’t always better. Better is better.

What’s helping me right now

Instead of forcing creativity, here’s what’s been grounding me:

  • Walking/running 3 miles, three days a week. It resets my mind in a way a laptop never will.
  • Scripting instead of journaling. Story-style writing feels better to me than a blank page.
  • Practicing being present. Less chasing the next big thing, more living in this one.
  • Sharing pieces of my digital product for feedback. (Hint, hint — I’m still looking for a few more people to help validate my new bundle for DIY’ers. If you want in, just let me know!)

These aren’t big fixes. They’re simple practices. But they remind me that creativity doesn’t respond to guilt. It responds to space. To joy. To rest.

Reflection for you

If you’ve been feeling tired, tender, or disconnected, here are two questions I’ve been asking myself. Maybe they’ll help you too:

  • Am I creating from joy or from obligation?
  • What would happen if I rested today instead of pushing through?

Sometimes the answers are all the clarity you need.

Looking forward

Even in this full season, I feel sparks of what’s next. I’m especially excited about the digital bundle I’m creating for DIY’ers. A project designed to make life easier for ecommerce solopreneurs who are building and growing with heart.

But I know it’ll only shine if I give myself permission to create it from a place of alignment, not exhaustion.

So here’s the reminder I’m leaving for both of us:

You’re not behind.
You don’t need to earn your rest.
This might just be the pause before your next powerful season.

The inhale before the exhale.
The stillness before the spark.

Let it be sacred.
